The Town of Olds has approved a five-year plan to guide policing investments and priorities from 2026 to 2031. The plan takes an incremental approach to staffing and governance, responding to growing workload pressures, population growth, and community feedback about policing visibility and engagement.
Implementation is already underway. The Town has hired a new administrative support person to help free up RCMP officers from desk work and increase their availability for front-line policing. The Town has also formally requested an additional regular member position from the RCMP, a process that requires early action due to recruitment timelines that can take up to a year or more.
The plan also includes commitments to establish a community policing committee, advocate to the Province for fairer policing, cost-sharing, and begin long-term planning for detachment facility needs.
