If a railway crossing is malfunctioning or a train is blocking a crossing and creating an immediate safety concern, use the emergency phone number posted on the crossing signal (blue Emergency Notification System sign). This number connects directly to the railway's operations centre and is the fastest way to report the issue. Transport Canada also recommends using the emergency number posted at the crossing for signal malfunctions or blocked crossings.
