Criminals prey on apathy and every member of a community can make a difference to make their community safer.
Community-based Crime Prevention
Citizens on Patrol (C.O.P.) is a group of citizens who participate in community based crime prevention by observation and reporting suspicious activities while on patrol. Volunteers work closely with the local detachment and complete mandatory training in surveillance and observation techniques, note taking, and safe patrolling practices.
Get Involved
Even though Olds has one of the most active groups in the province, they are always looking to increase community participation. Applicants must be able to pass a comprehensive security screening conducted by the R.C.M.P. Members are expected to participate in C.O.P. meetings and training activities and dedicate time for one shift a month which can range in duration between 2 to 4 hours.
Applications are available at the Town of Olds Administration Office or the Olds RCMP Detachment.
