Trail and Shared Pathway Bicycle Safety
People on bikes are responsible for the following these rules:
- Working bell required - under the Traffic Safety Act, Peace Officers can issue an $81 ticket if your bike doesn’t have one.
- Use your bell when passing — riders must alert others before passing slower users. Failing to do so can also result in an $81 ticket.
- Slow down when approaching others and pass on the left side.
- Obey trail signs and park closures.
- At night, all bicycles must have:
- One or two front lights (white)a red tail light
- A red rear reflector
- A person shall not ride a bicycle unless the bicycle has a brake.
- Safety helmets must be worn if the rider is under the age of 18.
