If you or someone you know is considering serving on your local council, this webinar is for you! Alberta Municipalities (ABmunis) and the Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA) are hosting free webinars to help prospective candidates understand what it’s like to serve on a municipal council.
During this interactive webinar, you’ll learn about:
• What decisions councils are responsible for
• How municipal government differs from federal and provincial governments
• The impact and rewards of serving your community
• Firsthand experiences from current municipal leaders
There will also be a Q&A session where you can ask questions and gain valuable insights into the experience of being a municipal elected official. Each webinar is catered to whether you live in a small village, town, county, or a city, but you are welcome to attend any webinar that fits your schedule. Town of Olds Council consists of a Mayor and six Councillors who are elected by the citizens of Olds every four years. Elections are held in accordance with the provincial Municipal Government Act and the Local Authorities Election Act. The current Council was officially elected in the General Election held Monday, October 18, 2021, and began its term on Monday, October 25, 2021.
The next Town of Olds general Municipal Election will be on Monday, October 20, 2025.
This election fills seven (7) seats; one Mayor and six Councillors.
