  • Olds Fire Department Responds to Fire-Related Fatality

    On Friday, November 29, 2024, at 11:17 PM, the Olds Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 4617 48th Street in Olds following reports of an active fire in the basement and an occupant trapped inside. Upon arrival, fire crews encountered light smoke and fire conditions in the basement living area. Tragically, a deceased male was located at the scene. The fire was quickly extinguished, and minimal damage was sustained by the residence.

    Several local community groups have received a boost from the Mountain View Power Community Grant Program, funded by designated profits from MVP. The grant committee made their selections from the Fall 2024 applications, choosing several fantastic groups which met its guidelines for funding.

    Business owners across Central Alberta are invited to participate in a collaborative new initiative designed to foster local business growth and build a vibrant, sustainable business region - BREWD (Business Retention Expansion and Workforce Development). BREWD is being driven by a new coalition of businesses, governments, and service agencies identified as Central Alberta First (CAF). CAF is calling on business owners and entrepreneurs to share their perspectives, voice their concerns, and contribute ideas that will help shape the region’s future.
