Residents Invited To Help Shape The 2027 Budget
The Town of Olds is inviting residents and businesses to help shape future priorities through the 2027 Budget Survey, now open until August 5, 2026.
The survey gives residents and businesses an opportunity to share what matters most and helps Council understand community priorities as it reviews municipal services and prepares for the 2027 budget.
Approximately 300 residents participated in last year's survey, and their input helped inform Council’s budget decisions. The Town hopes to hear from even more residents and businesses this year.
"Building a budget means making choices about priorities and balancing the needs of today with the future stability of the community," said Alvin Allim, Director of Corporate Services. "The survey helps us understand what residents value most and, together with the 2026 Financial Report, provides important context for the decisions Council will make this fall."
Last year’s survey identified several key community priorities, including infrastructure investment, snow clearing, public safety, improvements to the Sportsplex and Centennial Park improvements and municipal communications.
Mayor Dan Daley said community input is an important part of the budget process.
"Council makes decisions that affect the services, programs, and infrastructure our community relies on every day, and it's important that we hear directly from residents before making those choices," said Mayor Daley. "The budget survey gives people an opportunity to share what's most important to them and helps Council better understand the priorities of our community."
Residents are encouraged to review the 2026 Financial Report before completing the survey. Together, the Financial Report and survey help provide context for budget discussions by outlining the Town's financial position and identifying the services, programs, and investments that residents consider most important.
Feedback collected through the survey will help inform Council's budget discussions this fall. A draft budget is expected to be presented later this year, with final approval anticipated in December.
The survey can be found on the Town’s Engagement webpage.
