57 Avenue Infrastructure Construction Project To Begin May 2026

The Town of Olds will begin construction on the 57 Avenue Infrastructure Replacement project in May 2026, with work expected to be completed by September 2026. Timelines may change depending on weather and site conditions.

The project will take place on 57 Avenue between Highway 27 and Shannon Drive and will have a significant impact on traffic flow, including lane closures and temporary access changes.

This work is being completed to address failing underground infrastructure and improve safety in the area.

“The main driver for this project is a collapsing sanitary sewer,” said Adrian Pedro, Director of Infrastructure. “Replacing this infrastructure now allows us to address a critical issue and improve the overall safety and performance of the corridor.”

Construction will include upgrades to underground utilities, road rehabilitation, drainage improvements, and intersection enhancements. Traffic improvements will also support better flow and safety, including updated signage and lane configurations.

Residents can expect traffic delays, reduced speeds, and temporary disruptions to access and parking during construction. The Town will work to maintain access where possible and provide advance notice of any water service interruptions.

Mayor Dan Daley said the project reflects ongoing community priorities. “This project has been on our infrastructure roster for some time, and we have heard from residents about the need for safety improvements along 57 Avenue,” said Mayor Daley. “These upgrades are an important step in maintaining reliable infrastructure and improving safety for everyone who uses this corridor.”

The estimated cost of the project is $1.2 million and is funded through the Town’s capital budget and planned infrastructure renewal program. Residents are encouraged to allow extra travel time, follow all signage, and stay clear of construction areas.

Project updates will be shared throughout construction. Residents can also sign up for real-time notifications through Voyent Alert at olds.ca/subscribe
