Local Sports
Sawatzky was chosen 16th overall in the first round of the Western Hockey League’s Prospects Draft in 2023 by the Moose Jaw Warriors. He had plenty of supporters on hand for his first game in Olds on Saturday, December 6th.
The season is over for the École Olds High School senior and junior varsity volleyball teams.
However, both went out in a pretty high note, as each won silver during the weekend.
Olds College
This week, Red Deer Polytechnic was ranked 31st overall, and Olds College was ranked 20th among the top 50 research colleges and polytechnics nationwide, as published by Research Infosource Inc.
Running from Dec. 12, 2025 to Jan. 4, 2026, the program, organized by the Olds College International Student Experience team, invites local residents, faculty and staff to host students for a festive or winter activity.
