Election: 

Nominations for those who wish to run for a council seat close Sept. 22 at 12 noon.

Arya Ahmadi says if he is elected in Mountain View County Division 2 in the upcoming municipal election he will work to support and promote smaller centres in the municipality, including Water Valley and Cremona.

Community News:  

Problem will probably never go away but the bylaw to control it is better than before when the community had no such law, protective services director says 

Starting at 8 a.m., Sept. 3, local traffic only will be allowed on Douglas Place as crews undertake a water service repair project 

The group, citing health and other concerns regarding the meters is calling on the Town of Olds to place a moratorium on smart meter installation until public consultation on the program is held. 

Non-profit recently serving about 10 households a week now that it's in a new location in the former Olds fire hall 

Local Sports: 

Dayley Reimer, who trains with Rachel Andres of Olds, Alberta, won bronze in Javelin in the rain during the Canada Summer Games in Newfoundland on Tuesday with a throw of 42.14 metres. 

Olds RCMP:  

Day, Acting Detachment Commander in Olds, received the honour from K Division Assistant Commissioner Wayne Nichols. The medal honours Canadians who have made significant contributions to their communities. 

Constable Mitch Price with the Olds RCMP Detachment says last year they made the transition from school zones to playground zones in Olds, so the hours for those are 7am until 9pm – even if the kids aren’t in school – and the speed limit in them is 30 kilometers an hour.
