Olds Town Council Approves 2026 Budget and Sets Property Tax Rates

At their April 27, 2026 meeting, Olds Town Council approved the 2026 Property Tax Rates following the adoption of the 2026 Operating Budget.

While Council chose not to raise the tax rate, the 2026 Operating Budget does include an increase to municipal property tax revenue of $1.134 million. For the average home in Olds, this equals an approximate $21.92/month rise to the municipal portion of property taxes.

The approved increase to tax revenue includes targeted investments to support the community:

  • $790,000 to maintain service delivery levels
  • $440,000 in infrastructure and utility costs
  • $535,000 contributed to reserves for future infrastructure funding

These investments support reliable services today while preparing for future infrastructure replacement and growth.

“This budget reflects Council’s commitment to our community’s financial sustainability and the delivery of essential services,” said Mayor Daley. “While these were not easy decisions, they allow us to address infrastructure funding gaps today and ensure we are investing responsibly for both current needs and the future of our community.”

What This Means For Property Owners

While the municipal tax rate remains unchanged from 2025, residents can expect to see changes in their total tax bill due to:

  • Changes in property assessments
  • Increases to the provincial education tax

These factors are outside of the Town’s control.
