Olds RCMP Charge Male With Drug Trafficking

Olds, Alta. - On Aug. 31, 2024, Olds RCMP attended a room at a local hotel while continuing an ongoing drug investigation. Officers engaged with the room occupant, at which time they were invited into the room. Once inside the room, officers observed a quantity of what they believed to be Fentanyl. The male was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and the room was secured. A warrant to search was obtained.
On Sept. 1, 2024, Olds RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, Olds RCMP, Didsbury RCMP, along with the Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response Team (CLEAR), executed the search warrant. They seized the following:
- Approximately 560 grams of suspected fentanyl
- Just under 100 grams of suspected cocaine
- 12 grams of suspected methamphetamine
- 680 contraband cigarettes
- Other items often used when trafficking drugs
Jacob Donkin (25), a resident of Olds, has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, mischief and two provincial offences relating to the cigarettes. He was held for a judicial interim release hearing and was released to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Didsbury on Oct. 21, 2024.
“Drug enforcement continues to be a priority for the Olds RCMP to ensure the safety and security of the public. We will continue to work in partnership with other agencies, and members of the public to ensure that we deal aggressively with drugs and drug dealers in our community.”
