Olds Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire in Silver Lynx Community

On Tuesday, October 14th, 2025, at 05:48 AM the Olds Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at #11 5210 65 Ave (Silver Lynx), Olds, with a report of a working structure fire in a mobile home.

Fire Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire from the structure, and the lone occupant had escaped safely. The fire spread through the structure rapidly, causing complete destruction to the rear of the residence, and extensive fire and smoke spread through the attic space. Crews worked to extinguish the fire quickly, but with the rapid spread, damage to the entire structure occurred. A neighboring property also suffered heat damage to the exterior, but the spread of the fire to that structure was stopped quickly by firefighters.

The lone occupant was awakened by a functioning smoke alarm and was able to exit the structure uninjured. “This is a powerful reminder of how working smoke alarms save lives. It’s especially timely, as just last week during Fire Prevention Week, our members were out in the community raising awareness about this very message,” says Fire Chief Justin Andrew.

Olds Fire Department responded with two engines, two command units, and a support truck, supported by an additional engine from Didsbury Fire under mutual aid. A total of 18 firefighters were on scene managing the fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Olds Fire investigators but is not deemed to be suspicious in nature at this time.

There was one minor injury to a firefighter during this incident, which did not require transport to the hospital, and damage estimates have not been done but are deemed to be extensive.
