Olds Fire Department Responds to Residential Structure Fire

Smoke billows out of a burning house as two fire fighters hold the firehose and pump water.
On Monday, February 12, 2024 at 12:14 PM the Olds Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 5313 57 Avenue, Olds.

A residential two-story home was found to contain a ventilation limited fire that broke out through the front of the home at the time fire crews arrived.  The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire and was noticed by a passerby who called 911.

Olds Fire Department responded with two engines, an aerial ladder truck, and command unit.  A total of 12 firefighters were on scene managing the fire.  Crews knocked down the fire and made quick entry to extinguish the forward progress of the fire.  Smoke and heat damage occurred throughout the structure.

There were no injuries to firefighters during this incident, and damage estimates have not been made but will be extensive with contents and structure being affected.

The owners of the property are working with their insurance company and fire investigators to establish a cause of this fire, which is not deemed suspicious in nature.
