MVP Community Grants Surpass $365,000 in Local Support Since 2023

The Town of Olds is pleased to announce the Mountain View Power (MVP) Community Grant Evaluation Committee has selected six local organizations to receive a total of $76,900 in funding through the Fall 2025 intake of the MVP Community Grants Program. The Community Grants Program provides financial assistance towards projects, events and activities that enhance and enrich the community. This initiative continues to demonstrate the power of community investment, thanks to the generosity of MVP and its customers.

Since launching in spring 2023, Mountain View Power Community Grants has awarded $367,000 to the community through this application process. This fall, the Committee received ten eligible applications and after careful review, the following organizations were selected for funding:

$600 Olds & District Kiwanis Music Festival Society – Instrument Tuning

This grant will be put towards the cost of instrument tuning during the 2026 Olds & District Kiwanis Music Festival of the Arts. The festival runs over a two-week period and is open to students ages 4 – 18, with multiple sessions that are open to the public free of charge.

$30,000 Olds Elks Lodge #100 – Olds Elks Hall Kitchen Revitalization Project

The Elks are planning a complete renovation of their building’s aged and inefficient kitchen. This project will expand the types of programming and events they are currently able to offer the community and will significantly reduce the hall’s utility expenses.

$11,900 Olds Lions Club – OR Hedges New Full-Service Sites

The project is to install 5 new full-service sites (50-amp power, water, and sewer) at the OR Hedges Campground.

$25,000 Olds Men’s Shed – Workspace Renovation

The purpose of this project is to renovate an unused Town-owned facility to turn it into the workspace for this organization. A federal grant has been secured to complete the basic renovations to make the building work for their needs. Work will include electrical, HVAC, plumbing and carpentry upgrades as well as lead paint remediation.

$6,400 Olds Municipal Library – Library Collection Development

The Olds Municipal Library is expanding access to learning and wellness through its Library of Things and eContent collections, helping residents learn, create, and thrive. The Library of Things offers over 90 shareable items—such as microscopes, radon detectors, and game consoles—saving residents money and supporting the local economy. Meanwhile, eContent downloads have exceeded 11,500 annually, providing cost-effective digital access to trusted information and mental wellness resources.

$3,000 Special Olympics Olds– Accessible Swim Meets in Olds hosting athletes from across the province

Special Olympics Olds has been active for over 40 years and currently has 120 local athletes participating. The group is planning to host two swim meets in Olds in 2026, which will attract 80 – 100 athletes from other districts each meet.

Next Grant Intake

The next intake for the MVP Community Grant Program will take place in Spring 2026. Local non-profits, clubs, and community groups are encouraged to prepare their applications early and review the eligibility criteria outlined in the Town’s Community Grants Policy.

The Mountain View Power Community Grants Program was created to empower local initiatives that enhance quality of life in Olds. Since its inception, MVP has supported dozens of community-driven projects through its biannual intakes.

Powering the Community

Mountain View Power is more than an energy provider—it’s a local partner in community well-being. When residents choose MVP for electricity or natural gas, they not only get competitive rates but also help fund initiatives that strengthen Olds and the surrounding area.
