MVP Community Grants surpass $290,000 in local support since 2023

The Town of Olds is pleased to announce The Mountain View Power (MVP) Community Grant Evaluation Committee has selected six local organizations to receive a total of $43,100 in funding through the Spring 2025 intake of the MVP Community Grants Program. The Community Grants Program provides financial assistance towards projects, events and activities that enhance and enrich the community. This initiative continues to demonstrate the power of community investment, thanks to the generosity of MVP and its customers.

Since its inception in the spring of 2023, Mountain View Power Community Grants has given back to the community a total of $290,100 through this application process. This spring, the Committee received ten eligible applications and after careful review, the following organizations were selected for funding:

$10,000 Imagine Gymnastics Club (ICG) – Gymnastics Equipment Upgrades

This new equipment will enable IGC to run both Recreational and Competitive programming at the same time, so athletes do not have to wait to share pieces of equipment. The group partners with schools and other local programs, to introduce kids, who may not normally be exposed to gymnastics, to try out their facilities and see if activity is something they enjoy.

$9,250 Olds & Area Pregnancy Support Centre – Family Growth & Learning Space

This project will enhance their growing need for adequate learning space for families. This space will help their clients participate in courses such as infant massage, prenatal workshops and support for bereaved parents.

$8,000 Community Learning Campus (CLC) Fitness & Recreation – Disc Golf Course

(Hartman Green)

This project involves removing the current disc golf targets and installing new T3 professional-grade permanent targets, updating hole signage, and refreshing the course information. With the installation of these professional standard targets, the Olds Disc Golf Course will be suitable for both recreational use and organized league play.

$6,350 Men’s Shed of Olds – Tools

This grant will assist with the purchase of tools to undertake several significant projects that will benefit the community of Olds and the surrounding area. The group is collaborating on projects at the Olds Hospital, refurbishing abandoned/broken bicycles and providing Kirsten’s Place with handmade outdoor furniture.

$5,500 Olds Pickleball Club – Olds Outdoor Pickleball Enhancement Project

The Town of Olds installed five outdoor courts and purchased portable nets, but they have not held up well. One sturdy net was added last year, and four more are needed for consistent outdoor use. The Town will store all pickleball nets in the old pool building during winter.

$4,000 Olds Minor Softball – Pitching Machine and Bownet

Olds Minor Softball will purchase new team equipment with this grant money. These projects span youth recreation, health and wellness, community inclusion, and support services, all contributing to the social and physical well-being of the community.

Next Grant Intake

The next intake for the MVP Community Grant Program will take place in Fall 2025. Local non-profits, clubs, and community groups are encouraged to prepare their applications early and review the eligibility criteria outlined in the Town’s Community Grants Policy.

The Mountain View Power Community Grants Program was created to empower local initiatives that enhance quality of life in Olds. Since its inception, MVP has supported dozens of community-driven projects through its biannual intakes.
