  • No long-term capital costs tied to the old building
  • Increased tax revenue from the sale of the former Town Office
  • Retention of Westview Co-op’s head office and jobs in Olds

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why is the Town moving?
The move supports long-term operational savings, allows departments to work more efficiently together, and creates new revenue by turning the old building into a taxable property.

Will I be able to access Town services during the closure?
Yes. While the office will be physically closed July 5–20, phone and email service will continue as usual. In-person services resume July 21 at the new location.

How does this save money for taxpayers?
Savings will come from lower maintenance costs, reduced duplication of services, and no ongoing capital requirements tied to an aging facility. Plus, the old building will generate tax revenue once sold.

What is happening to the old Town Office?
Westview Co-op has purchased the building and will retain its head office in Olds, supporting local employment and economic activity.

Will Council meetings still happen?
Yes. Meetings on July 7 and 14 will take place in person but will not be live-streamed. Meetings resume August 25 at the new location with live-streaming reinstated.

What is the project cost?
The total cost of the move and renovations is $2 million.

Will the new location be easier to access?
Yes. The new site is designed to better serve residents and consolidate services in a modern facility. Parking and accessibility will be improved.
