Mountain View County and Town of Olds 2024 ICC Annual Report: Advancing Inter-Municipal Cooperation
Mountain View County, AB – The Town of Olds and Mountain View County are pleased to share highlights from the Inter-Municipal Cooperation Committee (ICC) activities in 2024. The ICC, guided by its mission to foster open communication and effective collaboration, has been instrumental in strengthening the relationship between our municipalities. This year, the ICC held four productive meetings, focusing on key initiatives such as:
- Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework (ICF) Agreements: Continued discussions on updating agreements to ensure effective resource sharing and future-proof planning for facilities and services. To learn more about these Agreements, please visit Mountain View County’s website.
- RCMP Enhanced Policing Positions: Explored opportunities for crime reduction initiatives, with plans for further consultation in 2025 involving local RCMP leadership.
- Alberta Community Partnership Grant: Successfully supported a grant for the lifecycle assessment and feasibility study of the Olds Sportsplex.
- Business Retention and Expansion: Partnered on regional programs to support local businesses and workforce development, enhancing economic opportunities. Notably, Mountain View County contributed $10,000 to the Olds Economic Development Strategy’s Business Retention, Expansion, and Workforce program.
- Agriculture & Recreation Planning: Initiated discussions on collaborative efforts to strengthen agriculture and recreation services, with potential benefits for tourism and economic growth.
Additionally, the ICC supported the Olds Aquatic Centre Partnership, with Mountain View County contributing $127,350 to support the facility’s operations and enhance recreational opportunities for the region.
The ICC also addressed infrastructure, development opportunities, and information-sharing initiatives. These efforts underscore the importance of collaboration in ensuring efficient services and planning for our communities.
Looking ahead to 2025, priorities include preparing for the upcoming municipal election and continuing to foster cooperation on shared projects and goals. We thank all Council members, staff, and community partners for their dedication to this partnership.
