Employment Opportunity - Operator 1 - Public Works

In this role, you’ll contribute to the day-to-day services residents rely on, from helping maintain roads and sidewalks to supporting snow and ice control, signage, and seasonal Public Works activities. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in doing a job well, and wants to build experience in a team-oriented municipal environment.

What You’ll Do
•    Assist with maintenance of roads, sidewalks, pathways, trails, alleys, and related infrastructure. 
•    Support snow and ice control operations during the winter season. 
•    Help install and maintain signs, barricades, and other operational safety devices. 
•    Assist with cemetery operations and seasonal grounds-related work. 
•    Operate light equipment, municipal vehicles, and hand tools once trained. 
•    Support cleanup, maintenance, and other Public Works activities as needed. 
•    Complete routine equipment checks and report maintenance concerns. 
•    Contribute to a safe, respectful, and reliable work environment. 
•    Participate in a rotational stand-by/on-call schedule, as required. 

What We’re Looking For
This is a truly entry-level opportunity. We’re looking for someone who is dependable, safety-focused, and ready to learn.
•    High school diploma or equivalent. 
•    Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s Licence. 
•    Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air Brake Endorsement is an asset. 
•    Previous experience in construction, labour, landscaping, farming, or equipment operation is an asset, but not required. 
•    Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. 
•    Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, shoveling, walking, bending, and prolonged standing. 
•    Willingness to learn equipment, tools, procedures, and safe work practices. 
•    First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
•    Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work well with others.
