The Town of Olds is moving forward with the demolition of a vacant and deteriorating building located at 5033 51 Street, under the authority of the Municipal Government Act and a court order issued in early 2025.

Olds RCMP warns property owners of ongoing paving scams and fraudulent contractor services. Past incidents have involved illegitimate, out-of-town companies offering discounted asphalt-paving services to residents in smaller towns and rural residences.
On March 28, 2025, Olds RCMP was dispatched to a report of a serious assault that occurred in the Town of Olds. Upon arrival, a female victim was located with multiple serious injuries. Investigation led to a male suspect being identified.
Olds RCMP has received many enquiries from the public regarding an unsolicited text message being received. Scammers are sending fictitious "RCMP Delivery Notice" messages; the texts state that the RCMP has been unable to deliver court documents and ask people to "please reschedule the delivery to avoid missing your court date by using the link below."
On Aug. 31, 2024, Olds RCMP attended a room at a local hotel while continuing an ongoing drug investigation.
Olds RCMP would like to make the public aware of possible gold scams taking place in the local area.
The Town of Olds Council has approved an amendment to the 2024 capital budget aimed at addressing inflow and infiltration (I&I) in the Town’s wastewater management system. This $400,000 addition underscores the Town's commitment to maintaining and improving its municipal infrastructure for the well-being of residents. The additional allocation will be used to repair leaks already identified by relining manholes and pipes that are allowing water to enter our sanitary system.
CP Rail communicated that there is a delay in completing the remaining repairs, attributed primarily to the procurement, stating that the necessary parts and materials are expected to arrive between May 1 and May 15. To ensure the safety of all road users, bump signs have been installed and are prominently visible for eastbound traffic on Highway 27 before the crossing.
