Mountain View Power Storefront Grant

Mountain View Power's Storefront Grant aims at enhancing the charm and vibrancy of the Uptowne core. A total of $30,000 in funding is available with a maximum of $3,000 per allocation. This initiative is part of Mountain View Power’s efforts to support local businesses and create an inviting atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.

Mountain View Power Community Grant Program

The Mountain View Power (MVP) Community Grant Program helps strengthen Olds by supporting local not-for-profit and community organizations with projects that benefit the broader community. When you choose Mountain View Power for your electricity and natural gas, a portion of the proceeds goes back into the community through this semi-annual grant. The program supports both capital projects and community events that enhance local assets and engagement.

Applications are reviewed by a citizen-led committee based on community impact, partnerships, and overall value. Projects must take place in Olds or the Mountain View County recreation area and be completed within 12 months. While some expenses and activities, such as salaries or political events, are ineligible, projects that include contributions from the organization or community partners are prioritized. Successful applicants must acknowledge the Town of Olds and MVP in all communications, highlighting the collaborative effort behind these initiatives.

Mountain View Power (MVP), an energy marketer providing natural gas and electricity to homes and businesses in Olds and the surrounding area, operates on behalf of UtilityNET, a Calgary-based energy retailer. Established in 2015 by the Olds Institute for Regional and Economic Development, MVP was created to support community initiatives through sustainable funding.

The Town of Olds invites local organizations to collaborate in strengthening our community through the MVP Community Grant Program.

This program offers financial support to not-for-profit and non-profit organizations for projects that enhance and enrich the lives of residents, benefiting a wide cross-section of the community.

The Town of Olds is pleased to announce the Mountain View Power (MVP) Community Grant Evaluation Committee has selected six local organizations to receive a total of $36,993 in funding through the Spring 2026 intake of the MVP Community Grants Program. The Community Grants Program provides financial assistance towards projects, events and activities that enhance and enrich the community. This initiative continues to demonstrate the power of community investment, thanks to the generosity of MVP and its customers. 

Since launching in spring 2023, Mountain View Power Community Grants has awarded nearly $402,000 to the community through this application process. This spring, the Committee received seven eligible applications and after careful review, the following organizations were selected for funding:

  • Olds Humane Society
  • Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society 
  • Accredited Supports to the Community
  • Olds Community Chorus Society

The Community Grants Program provides financial assistance towards projects, events and activities that enhance and enrich the community. This initiative continues to demonstrate the power of community investment, thanks to the generosity of MVP and its customers.  

Since launching in spring 2023, Mountain View Power Community Grants has awarded $367,000 to the community through this application process. This fall, the Committee received ten eligible applications and after careful review, the following organizations were selected for funding: 

  • Olds & District Kiwanis Music Festival Society
  • Olds Elks Lodge #100
  • Olds Lions Club
  • Olds Men’s Shed
  • Olds Municipal Library, and
  • Special Olympics Olds

The Town of Olds is pleased to announce The Mountain View Power (MVP) Community Grant Evaluation Committee has selected six local organizations to receive a total of $43,100 in funding through the Spring 2025 intake of the MVP Community Grants Program. Since its inception in the spring of 2023, Mountain View Power Community Grants has given back to the community a total of $290,100 through this application process. This spring, the Committee received ten eligible applications and after careful review, the following organizations were selected for funding:

  • Imagine Gymnastics Club (ICG)
  • Olds & Area Pregnancy Support Centre
  • Community Learning Campus (CLC) Fitness & Recreation
  • Men’s Shed of Olds
  • Olds Pickleball Club, and
  • Olds Minor Softball

The grant committeereviewed the Fall 2024 applications and selected six groups who stood out for their dedication and impact. This quarter’s recipients represent a range of community priorities, including food security, health and wellness, accessibility, and shared public spaces. The recipients for this round include:

  • Mountain View Foodbank
  • Mountain View Hospice Society
  • Mountain View Seniors Housing Foundation
  • Memorial Forest/Columbaria Pathway Project
  • The Lending Shelf – As We Grow, and
  • Mount View Special Riding Association

This spring, five local organizations received support through the MVP Community Grant Program for projects focused on wellness, safety, outdoor gathering spaces, and community learning. The total amount distributed in this round was $75,000, the program’s largest to date, reflecting both strong applications and growing community needs. The funding recipients were:

  • Ecole Olds High School Leadership
  • Kiwanis Club of Olds
  • Mountain View Emergency Shelter
  • Reed Ranch School Playground, and
  • The Rotary Club of Olds.

Three local projects received support this fall, each shaped by the season and the people behind them. Each initiative created opportunities to bring people together, stay active, and to support our neighbours in need. The funding recipients were:

  • The Olds Curling Club
  • Mountain View Nordic Ski Club, and
  • The Undercover Elf event by Olds Fashioned Christmas
