Mountain View Power is a Community Sustainability Initiative owned by the Town of Olds. Mountain View Power (MVP) provides electricity, natural gas, and green energy options to residents, farms, and small business in the County of Mountain View.

Mountain View Power also offers a Prudential program. This account helps keep rates lower while providing customers with a 5% annual credit applied to their monthly bill. The Prudential is fully refundable should you choose to leave Mountain View Power.

Mountain View Power Community Grant Program

When you choose Mountain View Power for your electricity and natural gas, a portion of the proceeds goes back into the community through its Community Grant Program. This quarterly grant supports local non-profit groups and programs working to improve life in and around the Town of Olds.

Organizations and programs are chosen for their impact on the community. The grant supports efforts that strengthen Olds in five key areas: social, cultural, environmental, economic, and governance. Since its launch, the program has supported more than 20 initiatives and a grand total of $247,000 has been invested back into the community since June 2023.

Mountain View Power (MVP), an energy marketer providing natural gas and electricity to homes and businesses in Olds and the surrounding area, operates on behalf of UtilityNET, a Calgary-based energy retailer. Established in 2015 by the Olds Institute for Regional and Economic Development, MVP was created to support community initiatives through sustainable funding.

The Town of Olds invites local organizations to collaborate in strengthening our community through the MVP Community Grant Program.

This program offers financial support to not-for-profit and non-profit organizations for projects that enhance and enrich the lives of residents, benefiting a wide cross-section of the community.

Applications must have been received at the Town of Olds on or before 2:00 PM, April 16, 2025.

The grant committeereviewed the Fall 2024 applications and selected six groups who stood out for their dedication and impact. This quarter’s recipients represent a range of community priorities, including food security, health and wellness, accessibility, and shared public spaces. The recipients for this round include:

  • Mountain View Foodbank
  • Mountain View Hospice Society
  • Mountain View Seniors Housing Foundation
  • Memorial Forest/Columbaria Pathway Project
  • The Lending Shelf – As We Grow, and
  • Mount View Special Riding Association

This spring, five local organizations received support through the MVP Community Grant Program for projects focused on wellness, safety, outdoor gathering spaces, and community learning. The total amount distributed in this round was $75,000, the program’s largest to date, reflecting both strong applications and growing community needs. The funding recipients were:

  • Ecole Olds High School Leadership
  • Kiwanis Club of Olds
  • Mountain View Emergency Shelter
  • Reed Ranch School Playground, and
  • The Rotary Club of Olds.

Three local projects received support this fall, each shaped by the season and the people behind them. Each initiative created opportunities to bring people together, stay active, and to support our neighbours in need. The funding recipients were:

  • The Olds Curling Club
  • Mountain View Nordic Ski Club, and
  • The Undercover Elf event by Olds Fashioned Christmas

The three organizations were chosen who are committed to deepening connections within our community. These groups offer ongoing programs and events that bring people together, deepening our connection to the Town and to one another. The funding recipients were:

  • The Olds Legion
  • Boys and Girls Club of Olds, and
