LAND USE BYLAW

The Land Use Bylaw (LUB), is a Town bylaw that identifies a range of regulations that affect properties and land uses within the municipality.  Through a Land Use Bylaw, the Planning & Development department regulates items such as the use of a parcel of land, lot size, building placement, building height, parking, landscaping, sign placement, fences, and sometimes, architectural appearance of proposed developments.

Town of Olds  Land Use Bylaw 01-23 includes:

  • Regulations for the use and size of lots, and buildings;
  • Land use districts (zones), and the development standards for each, such as building placement, building height, parking requirements, landscaping requirements, etc. and
  • Permitted and discretionary uses for each land use district.
