Community Standards Bylaw changes in effect as of February 11, 2020:
• The maximum number of dogs allowed per household is reduced to 3.
Note: The Land Use Bylaw now prohibits the operation of dog breeding operations in residential areas.
• Addition of definitions to provide greater understanding to the terminology regarding animal behaviours as evaluated in this Bylaw: attack, bite, minor injury, severe injury, threatening behaviour.
• Fines adjusted to reflect differing outcomes (minor or severe injury) corresponding terminology
• Failure provide documentation when requested by a Peace Office is an offense.
• Dog are prohibited in areas posted by signage or as directed by a Peace Officer.
• Appeal process now includes when a Dog Licence is refused or revoked.
• Guiding principles to clarify what is “activity that causes Noise”; and added corresponding responsibilities required from a complainant to provide information to a Peace Officer in an investigation to substantiate a noise violation.
• Amended Appeal Process to include where a licence was refused or revoked.
• Housekeeping amendments (number reorder, coordination of sections, grammatical corrections, alphabetical order, etc)
