The Town of Olds is excited to announce an upcoming project to create more outdoor recreational and social spaces, thanks in part to a federal investment of $390,194 from the Government of Canada.
This is a multi-use outdoor project that includes several gathering areas in the community. Our project encompasses various recreational and social opportunities that revitalize areas to offer safe public spaces for the public to use. A Toboggan Hill, an Outdoor Rink, Community Garden, and Inclusive Playground, collectively will create a renewed sense of community by adding new features that create safe areas to gather for outdoor activity.
The Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF) is a two-year, $500 million national infrastructure program to revitalize communities across Canada. PrairiesCan administers the CCRF in Alberta. The Town of Olds is fortunate to be receiving funding as one of these communities.
“We are thankful and thrilled that the Olds community is receiving support to revitalize its existing recreational areas,” said Mayor Judy Dahl. “The valuable addition of these outdoor spaces will be beneficial and appreciated by everyone in the community, young and old alike.”
“Our government is making investments that rejuvenate community infrastructure through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund,” said the Honourable Daniel Vandal, Minister for PrairiesCan. “We’re working in partnership with the Town of Olds to build new community green spaces, providing residents and visitors with welcoming places to, once again, connect with each other, and take part in recreational activities.”
“Accessible and modern outdoor public spaces are at the heart of communities across Alberta, bringing people together, supporting businesses and offering memorable tourist experiences,” said the Honourable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance. “Today’s investment will have lasting benefits for the Town of Olds through the creation of a vibrant space for residents and visitors to gather for events, activities, and festivals throughout the year.”
Olds Council and staff are extremely appreciative of the support from PrairiesCan and the Canada Community Revitalization Fund as the town continues to expand our outdoor recreational spaces for our residents and visitors.
