The Olds Fire Department (OFD) responded to a residential structure fire at the 5200 block on 50 Street in Olds at 1:44 am on Thursday Sept. 8, 2022.The fire was discovered by RCMP while on patrol, who then notified the Red Deer Emergency Services E911 Centre.
The reported fire was discovered on the east side of the structure in the entrance to the home. The structure had visible flames and smoke throughout. It was unknown at the time of call if the structure was occupied.
OFD responded with two engines, an aerial ladder truck, one command unit, and a support unit. A total of 16 firefighters were on scene for approximately two hours. The fire was brought under control and a search of the structure revealed that it was an unoccupied building.
The Olds Fire Department would like to thank the RCMP for their quick discovery of the fire and Alberta Health Services for providing medical stand-by.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
