Residential Structure Fire - 5103 61 Avenue Olds

On Friday, April 30th, 2021 at approximately 01:15hrs the Olds Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a mobile home fire at 5103 61 Ave Olds.
Fire Crews arrived to find a mobile home with a fully involved fire that was self venting from the back of the structure. The lone occupant of the home had exited the structure and was being cared for by AHS EMS crews.
Firefighters utilized a defensive attack focusing on eliminating fire spread to neighbouring homes before switching to an offensive strategy to extinguish the initial fire.
14 firefighters in four apparatus were on scene for approximately four hours to contain the fire and secure the site.
Damage to the mobile home was extensive and considered a total loss. Radiant heat exposure caused damage to the siding of two neighbouring homes, but no further damage occurred. Loss estimates are approximately $100,000.
The occupant of the residence was treated by EMS and transported to hospital for undisclosed injuries as a result of the fire. There were no additional injuries to firefighters.
Olds Fire Department appreciate the assistance of AHS EMS and Olds RCMP to be on standby at any fire scene, and provide services to occupants or firefighters when needed.
The cause of this fire is currently under investigation.
