Hi, this is Sheena Linderman, Director of Corporate Services for the Town of Olds.
The 2025 Town of Olds Budgets have been approved. Budget 2025 has a large focus on infrastructure renewal and making services better for everyone.
This year, we have set aside $1.8 million to reduce water loss and improve sewer systems. This includes checking sewer lines with cameras and starting a new water meter replacement program. As well as sidewalk and trail repairs will be getting more attention.
Our Land Use Bylaw is being updated to meet the needs of our growing community. This will make regulations clearer for residents and help us to switch to an online permitting system.
Also included in this budget is a new Community Peace Officer to enable us to respond quicker and manage issues better.
To fund these changes, Council is looking at a 5% property tax increase, which would mean about $9 more a month for the average home. While garbage fees will go down, utility rates will go up slightly, for a total average increase of $2 a month for most homes.
