Mountain View Regional Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan

March 11, 2021

Municipal Partners in the Mountain View Region are Collaborating on Regional Parks, Recreation, and Culture Master Plan. We want your input!
The Towns of Olds, Didsbury, Carstairs and Sundre, Village of Cremona, and Mountain View County have begun a process to collaboratively develop a Regional Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan. The last Regional Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan was developed in 2009 and each of the communities involved have changed substantially and all have experienced growth in the residential, commercial, and industrial areas since that time.
The Master Plan will serve as a guide, to help communities in the region make informed decisions about the future of parks, recreation, and cultural services.
Town of Olds CAO, Mr. Michael Merritt explains "A Regional plan serves all our citizens well, Olds is looking forward to the next generation of what our parks, recreation, and culture facilities are going to be.  This is an opportunity for all residents to share their vision for building our future together".
The Municipal Partners have hired Expedition Management Consulting Ltd. (EMC), a recreation, parks, culture, and tourism planning firm, to assist with the development of the plan. The project is scheduled to be completed in November, 2021.
The municipal partners and consultant team are set to connect and engage with residents, youth, and stakeholder groups in the region early on in the process to gain input on what is important in terms of parks, recreation, and culture development in each community and the region.
There are several opportunities to provide input toward the master plan including surveys, digital engagement sessions, and interviews. All residents and stakeholders in the Mountain View region are encouraged to participate.
For more information on how you can participate, please visit the municipal websites, follow the municipal social media accounts, or contact your municipal office.
