Mayor Michael Muzychka returned to Canada on March 12, 2020 and is currently under self-isolation, however reached out to residents in the Olds Community via video messaging.
Mayor Muzychka stated the health and safety of the community is paramount and he and Council have been closely monitoring the spread of COVID-19, and are in frequent communication with CAO, Michael Merritt and Town staff.
An Emergency Operations Center has been initiated to increase coordination with neighboring jurisdictions, health officials and the provincial government.
Residents are encouraged to look out for each other – be prepared, stay safe and do your part by checking in on elderly family members and neighbors, as well as those with underlying health conditions. These residents are most vulnerable to fall ill from COVID-19 and they may need food and other supplies brought to their homes.
Many local businesses remain open, and while social distancing is encouraged, it’s important to support local business, and shop in a responsible manner. It is important to try and normalize your daily lives.
Town staff are working diligently to help the community prevent, prepare for and respond to this unprecedented event. It may take weeks, if not months to resolve.
