Get Your Skates On! Eight Outdoor Rinks in Olds

December 18, 2020

The Town of Olds and Olds Fire Department are excited to be able to provide outdoor ice surfaces for families across the community to enjoy this winter season. You and your family are invited to lace up your skates and enjoy the good ol’ outdoors!
COVID-19 has been tough on everyone and the Town of Olds was looking for outdoor activities that residents can safely enjoy with their families. This pilot project will include eight outdoor ice surfaces located throughout the Olds community.
Please note: Residents are strongly cautioned to adhere to COVID-19 public health measures, and ALL SKATERS shall obey posted signage relevant to ice safety and use the ice surface at their own risk.
Ice Surfaces are located at:
Neil Leatherdale Park – 4249 54 Avenue
Deer Meadow School – 5411 61 Avenue
Richards Crescent – 20 Richards Crescent
Hartman Green – 56 Avenue & 53 Street (East of Horizon School)
Imperial Ball Diamonds – 57 Avenue & Imperial Drive
Centennial Park – 5037 53 Street
Winter Lake
Highlands Pond
Please note: Ice surfaces will not have boards, snow edges only
The Olds Fire Department will periodically flood the ice surfaces and continually monitor
ponds for ice thickness. Community users of the ice surfaces are asked to become ‘Ice
Elves” and clear the snow with snow shovels or small push type snowblowers. Please
refrain from using motorized vehicles on the ice.
