CAO Merritt Tenders Retirement Resignation

The Mayor and Council of the Town of Olds announced today that Michael Merritt has submitted his resignation as CAO for the Town of Olds.
Michael Merritt came to the Town of Olds on May 8, 2017 from Cape Breton Regional Municipality with numerous levels of government experience, including Assistant Deputy Minister with the Province of Alberta.
The Town and community have seen many positive changes and additions during his tenure including:
• Rotary Athletic Park of Olds
• New Municipal Development Plan
• New Intermunicipal Development Plan
• New Protective Services Division and Fire Services Master Plan
• Revamped the Emergency Management Plan and Response to Pandemic
• Town of Olds Operations Centre
Merritt stated “at this time, he would like to thank the newly elected Council and previous two councils for their guidance and support during his tenure as the CAO, and thanks his staff for their tremendous support shown to him since his arrival in 2017.”
Council expresses their thanks to Merritt for his years of service and commitment to the organization, and the greater community and wishes him all the best in his retirement.
Mr. Merritt’s last day of employment with the Town of Olds will be February 25, 2022.
