Public Hearing regarding Bylaw #2020-11 and Bylaw No. 2020-12

Bylaw No. 2020-11 proposes to amend the Land Use Bylaw in order to add “staff residence in a basement on Lots 9 and 10, Block 6, Plan 472 I” as a permitted use in the Central Commercial (C1) District. The lots that are affected by the proposed bylaw are located at the corner of 50 Avenue and 52 Street, being the Olds Eyecare Clinic.

Bylaw No. 2020-12 proposes to amend the Land Use Bylaw in order to remove “solid waste transfer station” as an allowable use within the Town of Olds. Bylaw No. 2020-12 proposes to:

  • Remove “solid waste transfer station” from the list of discretionary uses in the Light Industrial (I1) District,
  • Remove “solid waste transfer station” from the list of discretionary uses in the Heavy Industrial (I2) District, and
  • Replace the existing definition of “public and quasi-public use” with the following definition: 

    “public and quasi-public use" means a use of land or a building for purposes of public administration and service and shall also include a building for the purpose of assembly, instruction, culture, recreation or other community activity. This does not include solid waste transfer station.
