Olds Welcomes New RCMP Community Resource Officer

March 14, 2023

The Town of Olds and the Olds RCMP detachment would like to announce the designation of Cst. Mitchell Price as the new Community Resource Officer effective March 6, 2023.

As Community Resource Officer (CRO), Cst. Price’s priorities focus on forming and building relationships with different community groups and businesses.

Cst. Price is a 12-year member of the RCMP, the last three years stationed with the Olds Detachment. He will strive to build and expand relationships with the community children, youth, seniors, and various organizations including businesses and volunteer groups.

An area where Price expects most of his time to be spent during the school year, is working collaboratively with all schools, including Olds College.  Being a visible face in these institutions, being approachable and helpful is intended to form strong community ties with Police. Cst. Price also looks forward to working with community partners and being very visible at community functions throughout the year. “I pride myself on being approachable and look forward to meeting as many community members as possible,” says Cst. Price.

Outside of work, hockey has always been a passion for Cst. Price, who is now fortunate enough to coach both his sons here in Olds. During the summer months, Cst. Price, his wife, and three children enjoy golfing, camping, and will spend much of their free time at the ball diamonds with their youngest.

In welcoming Cst. Price to his new position, Mayor Judy Dahl says “We are very pleased to have this position filled after being vacant for quite some time. This is an important position on the force and for the community as it is quite proactive and focuses on prevention of crime.”
