Mountain View Power was formed as an innovative Community Sustainability Initiative and is owned by the Town of Olds. Mountain View Power (MVP) markets electricity, natural gas and green generated power to residential, farming and small business located in the County of Mountain View.

 

Profits generated from these sales are invested back into the community through the MVP Community Grant Program.  When you're a customer of MVP you're directly supporting positive, local initiatives!

MVP Community Grant Program

Community Grants from Mountain View Power

When you purchase your electricity and natural gas from MVP you're also supporting positive change in your community. Profits are used to fund the Mountain View Power Community Grant Program.  The criteria for projects or programs that receive financial support are those that encourage, initiate and facilitate community and economic development through the incorporation of the five dimensions of sustainability: social, cultural, environment, economy, and governance.

Fall 2024 Recipients

The grant committee made their selections from the Fall 2024 applications, choosing several fantastic groups which met its guidelines for funding. Mountain View Power is a community-driven organization and has had a positive impact on Olds and surrounding areas by reinvesting a fraction of profits into organizations which are important to the community. The recipients for this round include Mountain View Foodbank, Mountain View Hospice Society, Mountain View Seniors Housing Foundation, Memorial Forest/Columbaria Pathway Project, The Lending Shelf – As We Grow, and Mount View Special Riding Association.

Spring 2024 Recipients

Six local community groups have received a boost from the Mountain View Power (MVP) Community Grant Program, funded by designated profits from MVP.  The grant committee made their selections from the Spring 2024 applications, choosing several exceptional groups which met its guidelines for funding. As a community-driven organization, Mountain View Power has been a positive influence on Olds and surrounding areas by allocating $75,000, the most given so far in one term. The funding recipients were Ecole Olds High School Leadership, Kiwanis Club of Olds, Mountain View Emergency Shelter, Reed Ranch School Playground, and the Rotary Club of Olds.

Three local community groups received funding through the Mountain View Power (MVP) Community Grant Program, financed by designated MVP profits. In fall of 2023, the program approved funding for three more standout applications that met the program's approval guidelines. The funding recipients were the Olds Curling Club, Mountain View Nordic Ski Club, and the Undercover Elf event by Olds Fashioned Christmas.

Spring 2025 Application Requests for Funding - Coming Soon

Mountain View Power (MVP), an energy marketer providing natural gas and electricity to homes and businesses in Olds and the surrounding area, operates on behalf of UtilityNET, a Calgary-based energy retailer. Established in 2015 by the Olds Institute for Regional and Economic Development, MVP was created to support community initiatives through sustainable funding.

The Town of Olds invites local organizations to collaborate in strengthening our community through the MVP Community Grant Program.

This program offers financial support to not-for-profit and non-profit organizations for projects that enhance and enrich the lives of residents, benefiting a wide cross-section of the community.
