National Indigenous Peoples Day is recognized annually on June 21. In Olds, a community celebration is held every year during the week of June 21 to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.
Canada Day is a federal statutory holiday and the national day of Canada celebrated on annually every July 1st. The Olds community comes together to celebrate its heritage and commemorate Canada's Birthday with celebrations held in Centennial Park. People of all ages gather to enjoy a parade,
and a host of games and activities during the day and a fantastic fireworks display at night.
Canada Day Parade Registrations are now being accepted. The registration form can be completed online or downloaded, then dropped off at the Town of Olds
Administration building at 4512-46 St.
Oldstoberfest takes place annually on the third weekend of September. Oldstoberfest is the world's first and only Bavarian Rodeo! Merging Bavarian culture with our western prairie heritage it is an atmosphere one must truly experience. For more information or to volunteer check out Oldstoberfest.
The CP Holiday Train makes its journey across Canada annually raising funds and collecting food donations by encouraging attendees to open their cupboards and wallets to help address hunger needs in their communities. Mountain View Food Bank will accept donations at the Olds stop to ensure those less fortunate have enough healthy food during the holiday season. Visit CP Holiday Train for further information.
Olds Fashioned Christmas started in 1993, is a community, culture and recreation event held throughout November and December, organized and coordinated by a team of volunteers. It has grown to include a large number of Events, Craft Shows and Family Activities. All of these can be found on the Olds Fashioned Calendar of Events that is produced every Christmas Season. There is extensive involvement by volunteers, local businesses, schools and service groups.
Olds Fashioned Christmas is held annually on the last Saturday of November - it is run in conjunction with the Santa Claus Parade of Lights.
The Santa Claus Parade of Lights is held in conjuncton with Olds Fashioned Christmas on the last Saturday of November. All activites are FREE, and take place in Centennial Park and indoors at the Cow Palace located near the downtown area at the corner of 50 Ave. and 54 St.
