Below you will find a list of the most common events held annually:

National Indigenous Peoples Day

National Indigenous Peoples Day is recognized annually on June 21. In Olds, a community celebration is held every year during the week of June 21 to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.

Canada Day

Canada Day is a federal statutory holiday celebrated every July 1st to commemorate the independence of Canada.  The Olds community comes together to celebrate its heritage and commemorate Canada's Birthday with celebrations held in Centennial Park. People of all ages  gather to enjoy a parade, and a host of games and activities during the day and a fantastic fireworks display at night.

Although we are coming out of the Covid-19 lockdown, Canada Day Celebrations this year will be very differnt from previous years.  This year's celebration is going to be virtual with a Reverse Parade - see details in posters below - and a Virtual Concert. Fireworks will still go on June 30, but with restrictions.

Oldstoberfest

Oldstoberfest is the world's first and only Bavarian Rodeo held annually on the third weekend of September.  Merging Bavarian culture with our western prairie heritage, it is an atmosphere one must truly experience.  For more information or to volunteer check out the Oldstoberfest web site.

CPR Holiday Train

The CP Holiday Train makes its annual journey across Canada encouraging attendees to open their cupboards and wallets to raise funds and collect food donations to address hunger needs in their communities. Mountain View Food Bank accepts donations at the Olds stop to ensure those less fortunate have enough healthy food during the holiday season.  Visit CP Holiday Train for further information.
