CURRENT ENGAGEMENT

  • New Website Survey

Take this short SURVEY and tell us what you think about the new Town of Olds website!

  • Centennial Park Christmas Lighting Engagement

CATCH THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT AND PROVIDE YOUR FEEDBACK!

Embracing the theme of the Kiwanis Heritage Village and historical Olds, the goal of this community engagement exercise is to gather information from the community on the future direction of Christmas lighting in Centennial Park.

The Kiwanis Heritage  Village was first displayed in 1993 in Centennial Park. Today it is the anchor piece in the Olds Fashioned Christmas event. It replicates authentic Olds historic buildings and briefly tells their stories on pedestal story boards.
The Park is also outfitted annually with lights in November, the newest addition being the Olds Fashioned Christmas 25th Anniversary signature tree in 2018.

The existing lighting in Centennial park uses multi-coloured lights on the trees as well as the 1967 Centennial Star feature. The Gazebo is lit up with white icicle lights, greenery and red bows, and the Kiwanis Heritage Buildings are decorated with white lighting across the top.

Finally, the Hospice Tree of Remembrance is decorated with white lights so that it stands out against the other trees in the park.

Please not that recommendations to Council will take into consideration engagement responses, research, costing analysis, budget implications and operational impacts.
