Family Day - February

Family Day is observed on the third Monday in February throughout Alberta.

The holiday was first celebrated in 1990. At that time, then-premier Don Getty said it was important for Albertans to spend time with their families, and that this holiday would emphasize the importance of family values.

Watch this page for information on Family Day events and activities for the 2023 holiday on Monday, February 20.

National Indigenous Peoples Day - June

National Indigenous Peoples Day is recognized annually on June 21. In Olds, a community celebration is held every year during the week of June 21 to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.

Summer Oldstice - June

Summer Oldstice is an ever-evolving celebration of summer activities and retail therapy from the buisnesses of Uptowne Olds. Things kick off with the annual Pancake Breakfast in the heart of Uptown Olds. The Mountain View Pistons host a Show ‘n’ Shine on the streets of Uptowne Olds while Uptowne businesses offer sidewalk sales full of specials. Uptowne Restaurants (many with summer patios) offer up delicious specials for every palate. Games and activities abound for the kids. This annual event is brought to you by Uptown Olds, a group of volunteers, business owners, managers, and entrepreneurs who believe that the downtown core is the heart of the community, rich with stories from our past and dreams for our future.
