Welcome to Olds, in the heartland of central Alberta! With a population of approximately 7300 people, Olds is a major service centre for our region, and is a great place in which to live, work and play. There’s lots to do here with great attractions, restaurants and shopping. The mountain country is just a short drive west. Spend some time in our community and you will see why Olds is the place to be in Central Alberta!
We are proud to be the home of Olds College, Canada’s premier institute for agricultural, horticultural, land and environmental management. Be sure to visit the stunning Botanic Gardens!
For winter fun, be sure to take in some Olds Fashioned Christmas activities during November and December. At the annual "Light Up Festival" on the third Saturday of November, Centennial Park is transformed into a winter wonderland, featuring a spectacular light display, heritage village and skating pond (weather permitting), along with fireworks, free food, entertainment, and Santa Claus!
While you can experience our famous "Olds Fashioned Hospitality" all through the year, you will get an extra helping during any of the events hosted at the Olds Exhibition Grounds. Come to Olds and take in events like the Weekend of Wheels, Draft Horse Classic, Western Heritage Weekend, Farmers Market, and of course, the Santa Claus Parade of Lights held during Olds Fashioned Christmas!
