Road Maintenance

Our Public Works staff work hard year round to ensure that roadways and alleys are maintained and kept accessible to all residents at all times of the year. Emergency routes, main collectors and school routes take priority over other areas.

  • Report a Problem - use our online form to report requests for road maintenance
  • For Policy information on the criteria the Town uses for road maintenance, click here.PDF Document

Maintenance of those portions of provincial Highway 27 (46 Avenue) and provincial Highway 2A (46 Street) is done by Alberta Highway Services, under contract with Alberta Transportation. As these two streets are provincial highways, they are not owned or maintained by the Town of Olds. All requests for road maintenance on these two streets should be directed to Alberta Highway Services, at 403.556.5470.

The Traffic Signals at the corner of 50 Avenue and 50 Street are maintained by the Town of Olds. Traffic signals on Highway 27 (46 Avenue) and Highway 2A (46 Street) are maintained by Alberta Highway Services, call 403.556.5470.

Street Sweeping & Lane Grading
Street Sweeping and Lane Grading take place in Spring and Fall. Town staff do the downtown area and the primary and collector streets first, and then move on to residential areas. Signs are posted the day before on streets to be swept.

As sweeping begins at 6 am, please remove vehicles from the street the night before. NOTE: for maximum efficiency, the sweeper does an area once and moves on to the next area - it won’t come back to do spots missed because vehicles weren’t moved.

The Street Sweeping schedule may be interrupted by bad weather, equipment failure, or other operations emergencies. Staff do their best to get to your area as fast as they can! We appreciate your cooperation. Questions? Call 403.507.4833 or email operations@olds.ca.
