The Town of Olds hosted celebrations at the Olds Aquatic Centre for our Earth Day 2009 Solar Showcase! Our goal was to create awareness of Earth Day and to educate the public about solar energy, "going green", and to showcase the Town of Olds as a sustainable community. Here's what happened:
The Olds Aquatic Centre was thrilled to unveil its brand-new grid-connected PhotoVoltaic (PV or solar electric) system in April 2009.

Earth Hour
Earth Hour is an awareness event presented by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) that unites millions of people in support of environmentally sustainable actions and solutions to climate change.
An easy way to show your support at home or through your business is by turning off all non-essential lighting for Earth Hour from 8:30 – 9:30 p.m. on the last Saturday of March.
In 2011, a record 134 countries and territories participated globally. In Canada, over 420 cities, town and municipalities took part - a 38% increase from last year.
