Municipal Planning Commission (MPC)
The MPC advises Council with respect to achieving orderly, economical and beneficial development, use of land and patterns of human settlement, and to maintain and improve the quality of the physical environment within which the patterns of settlement are situated in the town.
This commission meets at regular monthly meetings to consider development applications that require relaxation or reduction in the requirements of the Town of Olds Land Use Bylaw.
These applications are presented at monthly meetings and are either approved, with or without conditions, or refused.
The MPC is made up of at least three Councillors and six members of the public. The Town of Olds Development Officer also attends meetings.
Meetings are currently held at 8:30 am on the third Thursday of every month, or as necessary to fulfill the MPC’s duties. Authority to make decisions is granted by the Municipal Planning Commission Bylaw and the Land Use Bylaw.
Those interested in participating as MPC Members are strongly encouraged to attend at least one board meeting for an overview on the roles and responsibilities of the Members.
